Toronto Home feature Modern Architecture

7 December, 2013  |  Exterior, House Interior

Two distinct exterior areas of this residential home in Toronto, Canada are distinguished by way of light and dark. The lighter portion of the house appears on the base, covered in wide windows. A darker structure has been fused with the base, elevated and sticking out over a reflecting pool. Presented by Drew Mandel Architects, dark is balanced by light, and the interior dances with nature. A small wooden platform displayed four orange and green abstractly designed chairs lined up and facing one another. Off to the side, a young tree trees in the center of this wood platform. Like a modern exhibit, the huge windows serve as a looking glass to the outer world. With no drapes or curtains to block the view, the inhabitants cook, eat, relax and socialize admit a modern and sophisticated interior.
