Top British Architecture Award Winning Home Revealed

18 November, 2013  |  Exterior, House Interior

The grand and majestic exterior of this towering three story contemporary home was engineered by Eldridge Smerina and won the British Architecture Highest Award. The structure was built more than a decade ago, but it is still historically, and contemporarily significant. A glass veranda sits precariously off of the top, front edge of the home. Stone, wood glass and metal has been assembled into numerous shapes and forms to build up the exterior façade. Art plays a vital role in the interior design scheme of this UK based house. It can be found within sculptures, rugs and on all the walls. The otherwise sparse bedroom features a dark, abstract painting filled with spirals and explosions of color. A rather unassuming kitchen is accented with a long triptych styled series of photographs that cover an entire wall. There are no nuances of style in this house, only bold statements.
