The Renovation of a 300 Year Old Israeli Home

25 December, 2013  |  Exterior, House Interior

With just one look, the age and extremely well preserved state of this Israeli home becomes apparent. Crafted more than 300 years ago by hand, Curved arches and sharp angles have been formed with stones. An addition to the home is made out of dark wood, and it also has an orange colored roof. Design firm Studio Pitsou Kedem Architects was tapped to rehab and modernize this historic Israeli home, while still maintaining its unique original charm. The interior rooms are roughly carved out of stone, dome shaped and dimly lit. White façade has been laid over a few areas of the stone walls to help provide the house with a more contemporary element. A long stainless steel countertop appears beneath a grand window in the kitchen, overlooking the water.
