The Modern Student’s Home: Compact housing for students is affordable and environmentally friendly

Architects Linda Camara and Pontus Åqvist of Swedish company Tengbom developed this really unique compact housing for students, with an area of only 10 square meters! With the number students on the increase and their budgets on the decrease, the architects needed to build affordable housing that would help them through their studies. This required innovative thinking to solve a problem that has been around for many years. This compact residential lodge offers a comfortable sleeping loft, kitchen and a bathroom with the addition of pull down windows for added desk space and stairs that double up as shelving for books and equipment. If that wasn’t enough to surprise you, then the fact that this house is environmentally friendly and energy efficient will!  Photos Bertil Hertzberg.
