Modern House in California with Warm Stucco Exterior

Modern House in California with Warm Stucco Exterior

Inhabited by two contemporary artists, Whipple Russell Architects was hired to help the artistic couple to realize both of their conflicting set of dreams. Built out of stucco and painted in a warm tone, series of rectangles and squares appear in the form of rows of windows, archways, verandas and cutouts. The landscaping was obviously inspired by the desert, with sturdy plants growing in the middle of the walkway. Clay pots, reflecting pools and pebble gardens set the mood in the backyard, which is romantic and reflective. Hardwood floors, complex architecture and stucco pillars make up the interior. Antique furniture, classical busts and American Indian influenced art is displayed highlighting the home’s main theme of easy, simplistic living. With plenty of room to create art, the home’s owners got everything they bargained for and more.
