Dark Delight: Modern addition to a main house has rich dark colour tones and a warm cosy feel

Architect Pedro Lázaro has developed this very unusual and very modern, detached addition to a main house in Belo Horizonte in Brazil. On the outside, this extension looks like a patchwork of concrete, wood and black metal. It has large sliding doors and windows which lead you inside. When you walk in, you are taken back by the spacious feeling of this open plan living area. The ceiling is made from deep coloured wood, which usually makes a space look smaller, but in this instance it adds a warm tone to the room. The whole space oozes luxury and has beautiful furniture to match its modern interior. Despite it’s dark tone, this space is very cosy and inviting. Photos by Jomar Braganca.
