Organic textures and a very delicate treatment of light shape the way that the interior of this house resonates. Thin slivers of wood have been conjoined to form highly textured walls, braced by natural wood ceiling beams and accompanied by wicker chairs. A thick, slightly curved tree log acts as a support pillar. Just above the pillar is a skylight, resting on an upward angle. Created by Mette Lange Architects, this avant garde Denmark home is located in a vast rolling pasture, at the very top of a steep hill. The grass seems to roll and bend along the structural lines of the house. A large cutout on the side of the house makes way for an interesting variation on the outdoor deck. Shielded by the exterior walls along three sides, the deck lacks a railing, but it feels snug and secured in the home’s shadows. Read more
